HISTORY OF AUDIPHONE
1933-2008
Audiphone Company of Akron
is this town's oldest and most experienced Hearing Health Care provider.
For three quarters of a century, our Audiology and Hearing Aid business
has earned the respect and trust of many hearing impaired individuals,
their families and medical and social service professionals.
In 1933 Leland Utley founded Audiphone Company of Akron in the 2nd
National Building downtown on Main Street. It was the first of its
kind in Akron. In 1962 John Niekamp purchased the company, and in
1999 sold it to the current owner and President of Audiphone Co.
of Akron, Audiologist Inese Abols.
Two years ago Inese moved the business to its current location at
102 Western Ave. We are located on the ground level of a new one
story professional building. The entrance is a few steps from the
parking lot, which has plenty of free parking. The facility and
its restroom are wheelchair accessible. While in our waiting room,
you can try out several Assistive Listening Devices for the TV and
telephone.
We look forward to providing many more years of expert hearing care
to Akron. We hope to see you at one or more of our many events in
2008 celebrating our 75 years.
